RE: Assassination Trivia - AussieMick - 07-30-2020 07:06 PM Mark Twain ? (No, I can't see any evidence but I'll guess him) RE: Assassination Trivia - Susan Higginbotham - 07-30-2020 07:18 PM Not him. Though I wish it was! RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 07-30-2020 07:58 PM Are we to look for a male or female? RE: Assassination Trivia - Susan Higginbotham - 07-30-2020 08:40 PM Female. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 07-31-2020 04:48 AM Dr. Mary Edwards Walker? RE: Assassination Trivia - AussieMick - 07-31-2020 04:54 AM Anna Surratt? RE: Assassination Trivia - Susan Higginbotham - 07-31-2020 12:39 PM Roger got it! Dr. Mary Walker. At the 1902 trial, she annoyed the press by sitting in a prime seat at their table. Occasionally, she munched on hickory nuts, to the amusement of the defendant. (The male defendants at the conspiracy trial had also been amused, in their case by Dr. Walker's Bloomerite attire.) Dr. Walker wore "male attire" at the 1902 trial and applauded when a lawyer who had been wrangling over the identity of a hair comb predicted that one day women would serve on juries and would be able to determine such matters. RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-24-2020 10:50 AM Around this time (pre-Christmas) in 1883 something happened that is part of the larger Lincoln assassination saga. What happened? RE: Assassination Trivia - Rogerm - 12-24-2020 11:29 AM Did this have something to do with the attempt to steal Lincoln's body from his tomb? RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-24-2020 11:42 AM Logical guess, Roger, but incorrect. That strange event happened in 1876. RE: Assassination Trivia - Rob Wick - 12-24-2020 12:17 PM Seeing that there was no restrictions on googling, it was when Henry Rathbone murdered Clara Harris. Best Rob RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-24-2020 12:29 PM Right, Rob! I believe I have books which say it happened on December 23, and others which say December 24. I am not sure which date is correct. RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 01-13-2021 07:42 PM Thanks to Bill B. for this research challenge: Four men involved in the 1865 trial (respectively outcome) of the Lincoln assassination conspirators were later considered as candidates for nomination for President of theĀ United States. None of them however became President. Who were they? RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 01-14-2021 12:20 AM I should explicitly add that going by Google is welcome! RE: Assassination Trivia - AussieMick - 01-14-2021 03:40 AM Eva, I have 2 that I found quite quickly ... but struggling (failing) to get the others. |
